Usage Guidelines
Please use the data! Feel free to peruse the spectroscopic database, find interesting objects, and do analysis.
Visual Inspection#
CAMPFIRE only works if many users contribute to the visual inspection effort. If you're interested in using CAMPFIRE data in your work, please take the time to also contribute to visual inspections of the overall CAMPFIRE database, even if it doesn't directly aid your work. The goal is for most objects to have been visually inspected by someone, so we can confidently analyze large spectroscopic samples.
If you're unsure about the visual inspection process, check out the Visual Inspection Docs.
Writing Papers with CAMPFIRE Data#
If you're interested in writing a paper using CAMPFIRE spectra, let Hollis know.
- Public data: There should be no problems, but coordination with other team members is still helpful to avoid duplicated effort.
- Proprietary data (e.g., from EMBER or ZENITH): You'll need to make sure your plans don't conflict with core science for those programs. Reach out to the program PIs to confirm.
In all cases, coordinating with other team members helps ensure no one is working on the same science unknowingly. It's also good to check in with Hollis so you're up to date on any known data reduction issues or unique considerations relevant to your science case.
