Getting Started
This guide will help you get set up with CAMPFIRE and start accessing spectroscopic data.
Creating an Account#
Anyone can create an account on CAMPFIRE. Go to /signup, enter your name, email, and a password, then click the confirmation link we email you to activate your account. Once confirmed, you can sign in to browse public programs, comment on objects, and organize them with tags.
By default, new accounts cannot submit inspections (redshift sign-offs and quality flags). If you'd like to contribute inspections, open your Profile page and use Request inspection access under "Role & permissions" — an administrator will review the request and email you.
If you were provided with login credentials for a "group account," you can use those, but group accounts cannot inspect objects, comment, or create tags.
Access to Proprietary Data#
All users by default have access to any public data on CAMPFIRE. To access proprietary data (i.e., from programs still under the exclusive access period), you'll need to be given explicit access. This is typically done by entering an "access code" provided to you (or granted directly by an administrator). Access codes grant you permission to access specific programs.
To redeem an access code,
- Navigate to your Profile page
- Enter the access code in the redemption form
- Click "Redeem"
- The associated programs will appear in your access list
